Ableton release Live 12.4

Ableton has released Live 12.4, a free update for existing users that introduces new networked audio capabilities, expanded device control and workflow enhancements.

The headline addition is Link Audio, a new feature that enables real-time audio streaming between compatible devices on the same local network. Audio from other Link-enabled sources appears directly as an input within Live, allowing users to monitor and record without additional hardware or manual latency configuration.

Alongside this, Live 12.4 builds on recent developments in stem separation. Users can now process selected sections of clips rather than entire tracks, as well as combine separated elements into a single track, streamlining common editing tasks such as isolating or removing vocals. A unified progress bar has also been introduced to improve usability during processing.

A new Learn View replaces the previous Help system, offering an integrated tutorial environment combining short videos with written guidance. Designed to support both new and experienced users, the feature allows progress tracking within the software and can be accessed in a floating window while working.

Hardware and mobile integrations have also been expanded. Updates to Push include the ability to create and edit MIDI mappings directly from the standalone unit, customise control scripts and extend parameter control for Max for Live devices.

Elsewhere, companion tools Note and Move have been updated to version 2.0, adding audio track support, sample import from the library and expanded recording options via microphone, line input and USB-C.

Several core devices have also been refined, with updates aimed at improving modulation, control and overall sound design flexibility.
