Adlib strengthens Scottish team

Adlib has expanded its Scottish operation by making two key appointments, with Barclay Dakers joining as business development manager and Craig Hamilton as operations manager.

Both have strong backgrounds and considerable experience in professional audio and the production industry.

The company’s commitment to business in the region was established in early 2015 and consolidated with the acquisition of EFX Audio in November.

The pair will work alongside general manager Graham Cochrane and Steph Fleming, head of audio.

Based in Edinburgh, Dakers (main picture) will have responsibility for building Adlib’s brand and customer relations in Scotland and connecting with past, present and future clients to provide creative and appropriate sound, lighting and AV solutions for all scenarios.

The firm’s new recruit has been in the industry all his life, installing and running PA systems in nightclubs and partnering with numerous production companies. He worked with Edinburgh University at the world famous Fringe Festival, becoming production manager for several top Fringe venues. He has experience in sales, installations and business development, and before joining Adlib was part of the team at moving light brand Martin Professional.

Dakers says he likes Adlib’s “professionalism and company spirit and the way everyone shares their collective knowledge and experience” together with their commitment to training and support. “They are a truly great bunch of people to work with and their portfolio is amazing,” he stated.

Hamilton (pictured, above) will be based at the new warehouse in Glasgow and will deal with logistics and the day-to-day running of the facility, working with the Scottish sales and management teams and liaising closely with Adlib’s HQ in Liverpool.

Before joining Adlib, Hamilton worked for AMG as technical manager for the ABC Glasgow since it opened in 2005. After AMG took the venue over he was handed the role of technical manager for both the O2 ABC and the O2 Academy – two of the most popular live music venues in the UK. His other previous roles include stints as a touring audio engineer and a regular engineer at King Tut’s and Nice N Sleazy.

“I’ve always enjoyed working with Adlib crew when they came through the venue and have always been impressed by their professionalism, ethos and approach," Hamilton noted, before adding that the opportunity to work with the new Scottish venture and to offer "unrivalled" levels of choice and support is very exciting.

According to Adlib, the expansion of the team allows it to better represent its key brands, which include L-Acoustics, Coda Audio, Soundcraft, Digico, Midas and Yamaha.
