Agor? invests heavily in L-Acoustics K2

Italian rental company Agorà has bought a huge L-Acoustics K2 system.

One of the biggest sales in the manufacturer’s 30-year history, the purchase comprises 230 K2 enclosures, all powered by LA-RAK.

K2, the recently-launched successor to V-DOSC, has already been adopted by 60 firms worldwide.

According to Agorà co-founder Wolfango De Amicis (pictured, left, with Vittorio De Amicis), an unusually large order was required to provide sound reinforcement for the Winter Olympics Opening and Closing Ceremonies in Sochi – a collaboration with sound designer Scott Willsallen of Auditoria.

The Ceremonies were held at the Fisht Olympic Stadium – built specifically for the Games – which is capable of hosting up to 40,000 people in ‘Olympic mode’.

“Our collaboration with L-Acoustics goes back to 1999, when Agora realized the importance of the innovation being introduced by them at that time," Wolfango said. "VDOSC was a real revolution in the world of professional audio and we were one of the first companies to believe and to invest in this technology, in full compliance with the rules laid down in the technical and commercial V- DOSC Network – for which AGORA has been an active member since the beginning.

"K2 represents a natural evolution in our investment strategy, from the early days with V-DOSC to the more recently acquired K1."

The system will allow Agorà to cope with a higher demand for quality sound in the Italian market, as well as big international events.

“There are so many reasons why K2 is the right fit for us and our first encounter with the system in France made it clear. We were immediately convinced by its sonic signature, the easiness and speed of rigging, the exceptional SPL/weight and size ratio and the versatility given by the precise and controlled variable horizontal coverage.

“It’s a perfect complementary tool to Agora’s existing equipment. We will deploy K2 in conjunction with K1, but also as a standalone system in conjunction with K1-SB and SB28 in tours and major international events.”
