APG reports busy summer with Uniline

French loudspeaker company APG has reported an exceptionally busy summer season so far, following the sale of a number of Uniline line array systems to rental companies.

One of the most active has been rental company Audio Technique of Lyon, who are said to have been very busy since joining the Uniline Solution network with the purchase of their system in May this year.

Two of the festivals featuring Uniline this summer have been the Fete Escales in Vennissieux, a six-day festival that saw audiences of over 6,000 turn out for an electric music programme, as well as the Nuits de la Guitare festival. Held over eight days, the Nuits de la Guitare festival featured performances from the Alan Parsons Live Project, Roger Hodgson of Supertramp, Shaka Ponk and more. Audio Technique put together a sound design that made use of the modularity of the Uniline system in order to overcome constraints imposed by the venue.

Paris-based company Silence introduced their new system on the M6 Music Live festival in Issy-Les-Moulineaux, near Paris. The event hosted artists such as Charlie Winston, Yannick Noah and Nelly Furtado.

Plus 4 Audio, the first UK rental company to join the Uniline Solution, had a prestigious first outing for their new system against the backdrop of Waddesdon Manor in Buckinghamshire. Russell Watson performed a Jubilee classical crossover concert at Last Night of the Proms.

June saw the fourth annual metal-heads festival, Les Metalurgicales, take place in Denain in northern France. The event featured world class acts, such as Anthrax, who made a stop at the festival before their north American tour. Rental company ACS supplied Uniline systems for both stages, one inside and one outside. Christophe Sireuil, ACS director, said: “It was loud and it rocked!”

The 15th annual Fetes de Cognac festival, held in July, boasted a line up of Ayo and The Stranglers amongst others, and an extra stage. Sound reinforcement was handled by rental company Alpha Audio who provided a larger Uniline system for the main stage than seen in previous years.

August saw Uniline top of the bill at the 33rd annual Jazz a Vannes festival, where jazz fans were treated to Marcus Miller, Yuri Buenaventura, the Kyle Eastwood Band and Ibrahaim Maalouf. The rental company Studio Sextan will be providing both FOH and monitor systems and will use Uniline for the main PA and DX12 and DX15s on stage.

September will see the Nuits de Sologne take place, which is now in its ninth year. Les Nuits de Sologne will be the biggest pyrotechnic sound and light show in the central region of France. Audience capacity has been boosted to 16,000 due to popularity and in order to accommodate this an additional line array tower has been added by Audio Centre. Audio Centre was supported by an independent sound design specialist for this event as it will be the largest Uniline configuration since the launch of the system.
