API TV: Minneapolis’ First Avenue club given Electro-Voice upgrade

The renowned First Avenue nightclub in Minneapolis, Minnesota has had a major new sound system from Electro-Voice installed.

The venue is now equipped with a powerful Electro-Voice XLC127DVX (main system) arrangement, along with 12 Xsubs, XI-2153A/64F (with dual 15" three-way loudspeaker elements) and a further two Xsubs as side fills – all powered by TG-5 power amplifiers for the mains and TG-7 amps for the subs.

In the video below, Nate Krantz, general manager at First Avenue explains how a rise in the number of gigs it has been hosting of late, and the wider variety of artists it has been attracting, meant an audio upgrade was required, and Machen Davis, who looks after First Avenue’s public relations, talks about how the sound quality of the new set-up has helped the venue convince big bands to come back and play again.
