Arturia expands MiniLab range with new 37-key MIDI controller

Arturia has unveiled the MiniLab 37, a compact MIDI controller designed to offer greater playability and enhanced control for music producers, composers and creators working in both studio and mobile environments.

Building on the feature set of the company’s MiniLab 3, the new controller introduces a larger 37-note slim-key keyboard while maintaining the portable form factor that has made the MiniLab series popular among modern music makers. According to Arturia, the MiniLab 37 is designed to fit seamlessly into any production workflow while providing the performance and control capabilities needed to develop musical ideas into completed tracks.

The controller combines a velocity-sensitive 37-note keybed with a range of hands-on controls, including eight assignable encoders, four assignable faders and eight RGB velocity- and pressure-sensitive pads. Additional performance features include Hold and Chord modes, octave shifting, pitch bend and modulation touch strips, and a mini display with browser control for navigating presets and settings.

Connectivity includes USB-C bus-powered operation, a control pedal input and a 5-pin MIDI output, allowing users to integrate external hardware instruments and devices into their setups. The controller also supports multiple MIDI channels, enabling musicians to control several instruments simultaneously.

Arturia highlights a number of workflow-focused features designed to support creativity and live performance. Users can customise pad colours, use the MiniLab 37 as a clock source for external synthesizers, switch quickly between performance modes and power the controller via a USB power bank for mobile music-making applications. The controller also includes semitone transposition functions intended to simplify performance and experimentation.

Bundled software forms a key part of the package, with MiniLab 37 shipping with Analog Lab Intro, Ableton Live Lite, Native Instruments Komplete Select, Loopcloud and Melodics. Arturia says the included suite provides access to professional sounds, samples and music production tools suitable for users of all experience levels.

Sustainability also features prominently in the product’s design. Arturia states that the MiniLab 37 is manufactured using at least 50% recycled plastic, ships in 100% recyclable packaging and is backed by a five-year warranty.
