ATP company goes into liquidation

It was revealed last night that the company behind revered indie festival All Tomorrow’s Parties has gone into liquidation, CMU has reported.

ATP founder and promoter Barry Hogan admitted last year that ticket sales for the early-summer ATP events had fallen in recent years, when he stated that the company would focus on its December holiday camp events, the city-based I’ll Be Your Mirror mini-festivals and more conventional tours going forward. More recently he revealed that the company would once again be working with Pontins on its holiday camp events, bringing to an end a six-year partnership with Butlins.

However, all upcoming ATP events and tours are set remain unaffected, following Hogan’s incorporation of a new company in May called Willwal, which is now listed as the promoter of all future ATP events. On Twitter last night, Team ATP wrote: "To address the rumours some of you may have seen; there are some changes currently happening with the company, but none of the currently scheduled events or future events will be affected." A follow-up statement is expected later today.

2012 is proving to be a somewhat challenging year in the festival realm, with a number of key festivals being called off, while others have gone ahead, albeit with noticeably low attendances. Some promoters are blaming the Olympics for the poor turnout, while both Music Festivals boss Vince Power and MAMA Group chief Dean James have criticised the BBC for introducing a free-to-enter, licence-fee-funded London-based festival in the form of Hackney Weekend in to an already packed marketplace.
