Austrian Audio unveils Hi-X65 headphones for mixing and mastering

Austrian Audio has launched its first pair of open-back headphones – the Hi-X65.

The new cans have been designed specifically as professional monitoring headphones for mixing and mastering and feature the same 44mm driver as the firm’s debut Hi-X50 and Hi-X55 models.

The cans are also equipped with a ring magnet system designed to improve airflow, delivering the ‘strongest magnetic field in its class’, according to the maker.

The ring magnet, combined with a copper-clad aluminium voice coil, reduces the weight of the membrane and the voice coil connected to it. This allows the membrane to move or change direction faster for a more responsive impulse reaction, says Austrian Audio.

The audiophile-grade headphones also feature memory foams ear cups for extra comfort, while both the earpads and headband are replaceable.

Made from metal, the Hi-X65 are designed to be sturdy. They’re also foldable and come with a carrying bag along with both a 3m and 1.2m audio cable.

The Austrian Audio Hi-X65 are available in the UK and Europe this month and will be coming to the U.S. and Asia in July. The headphones come with a price tag of £319/$419/€349.
