BVE 2015: Richard Ayoade confirmed as keynote speaker

BVE has confirmed that comedian, actor, director, writer and presenter Richard Ayoade will take part in a keynote session titled “In conversation with Richard Ayoade” on 25 February at 5pm in the 4K Theatre.

Ayoade’s career to date has included notable appearances on comedy shows including The IT Crowd, The Mighty Boosh and Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace, before going on to direct and write feature films The Double and the award-winning Submarine. He has also directed music videos for bands including Arctic Monkeys, Vampire Weekend and Kasabian, and he presents the Channel 4 TV show Gadget Man.

The BVE session will take Ayoade back through his career, examining his experiences and the challenges he has faced in the industry. The interview will be led by Adam Buxton, the writer, actor and performer perhaps best known for his Adam and Joe collaborations with comedy partner Joe Cornish. Buxton writes and performs the music video show Bug on Sky Atlantic, and has appeared in the feature films Hot Fuzz and Stardust.

Event director Alison Willis commented, “We’re thrilled to have Richard join us at BVE. Though he is famously self-deprecating, his experiences on both sides of the camera will offer visitors a great deal of insight and inspiration and, with Adam’s guidance, doubtless some moments of levity!”

BVE 2015 will feature over 120 hours of free sessions from British broadcast and film industry talent, covering all aspects of the industry from commissioning to distribution innovations and takes place from 24-26 February at ExCeL London.
