Dean Street adds Hook End Studios to its portfolio

Dean Street Studios has announced that Hook End Studios has been added to the organization’s portfolio.

Hook End studio has hosted artists such as Radiohead, Robbie Williams, Stereophonics and Manic Street Preachers in the past. Recent updates to the facility see a range of new outboard equipment now available, including Fairchild’s and Pultecs. The studio underwent a major refurbishment a few years ago with the control room and studio being re-decorated and features one of the UK’s largest SSL consoles – a 96-channel J Series frame with 80 modules fitted.

Hook End Manor was founded in the 1960s with Dean Street director and manager Jasmin Lee’s father, Alvin Lee of Ten Years After who resided there for some time before selling it to Dave Gilmour of Pink Floyd. Gilmour recorded parts of Pink Floyd’s 1987 album, ‘A Momentary Lapse of Reason’ in a studio at the house.

In the 1990s, the manor was owned by Trevor Horn who was responsible for its high tech studio that matches, and even exceeds, some of the high quality recording studios found in London.

As Trevor Horn put it: "A big and easy to work in control room and a very comfortable environment. Confidently the best residential studio in the world."

Situated in rural Oxfordshire, Hook End is set within 250 acres of private gardens and woodland and is private yet accessible location. It is an hour drive from London, 20 minutes from Reading and 30 minutes from Oxford.
