Focusrite offers chance to win a mix by Damian Taylor

To celebrate 30 years since the original company was founded, Focusrite is running an exclusive competition with renowned mix engineer Damian Taylor.

From now until September, those buying a Focusrite ISA or Red 1 500 product who register their product and use it on a track could win an opportunity to have their song mixed by Taylor.

Based out of his Golden Ratio studio in Montréal, Canada, the engineer has worked with Arcade Fire, The Killers, Bjork, The Prodigy and many other leading artists. All entrants have to do is to upload an mp3 rough mix of a track made with the ISA or Red 1 500 before September 13th. Taylor will choose the winner – and start on the mix as soon as possible after the source files are supplied.

Focusrite was formed following a request back in 1985 from The Beatles’ producer Sir George Martin, who asked audio icon Rupert Neve to design a new, high-quality microphone preamplifier and equaliser – and later a dynamics module – to extend the capabilities of the vintage Neve console installed at Martin’s AIR Montserrat studio in the Caribbean. The resulting success in Montserrat and subsequently at AIR London resulted in the commercial release of the equipment as stand-alone modules.

These modules and their successors – sharing the same design with only minor alterations – spread around the world and found a home in many leading recording studios, and have since been used on hundreds of hit records by acclaimed artists, engineers and producers.
