Helen Meyer wins InfoComm?s 2011 Women in AV Award

Helen Meyer, executive vice president of Meyer Sound, has received InfoComm’s 2011 Women in AV Award.

Meyer picked up the award on September 23rd at a ceremony held in conjunction with the InfoComm 100 conference in Portland, Oregon.

Now in its third year, the Women in AV Award acknowledges female AV industry professionals who represent a strong entrepreneurial spirit and excellence in technology management.

“Helen Meyer has transformed the AV industry by being devoted to improving the user experience,” said Randal A. Lemke, executive director and CEO, InfoComm International. “She has enhanced the enjoyment of audiences around the world by ensuring that Meyer Sound is developing products devoted to pure sound and intelligibility.”

Along with husband John Meyer, Helen co-founded the company in 1979. As executive vice president of the privately held pro audio manufacturer, she is principally responsible for the operations, sales, and marketing, as well as the long-term growth strategies of the company, while CEO John Meyer focuses his efforts on the company’s research and product development programmes. Manufactured at the company’s Berkeley headquarters, Meyer Sound products are used by such high-profile names in music and entertainment as Metallica, Céline Dion, and Cirque du Soleil.

“It’s a great honour to be recognised by InfoComm,” Meyer said. “When we first started the company 32 years ago, John and I never expected to be where we are today, working alongside so many creative and talented industry professionals, many of whom have become good friends of ours. I am proud to share this acknowledgement with everyone in our extended family, from our employees to our customers around the world, for their ongoing support and inspiration.”
