IBC 2012 Conference opens today, here?s what to look out for

As the Amsterdam RAI officially open its doors for the annual IBC Conference, Audio Pro International hereby offers a rundown of today’s not-to-be-missed sessions.

The show kicks of this morning with an agenda-setting debate, which will reflect upon the enduring consumer interest in broadcast television and the impact of connected devices on its future. Key industry figures Mark Hollinger, president and CEO, Discovery Networks International; Brian Sullivan, CEO, Sky Deutschland and Catherine Powell, senior vice president/general manager, Media Distribution at The Walt Disney Company, EMEA will discuss the continuing domination of broadcast and the payTV response to OTT in today’s major session ‘The Rise and Rise of Broadcasting? The Next Chapter…’ at 09:30 in the Forum.

This key discussion will be followed at 11:30 by ‘The Evolution of Connected TV Platforms’. Also located in the Forum, senior executives from Samsung Electronics, TiVo, Xbox and Google will take a look at how consumer electronics majors are approaching the connected TV market and what impact Apple will have when it makes its anticipated play.
