March Digital Edition available now

For those of you worried that the year is slipping past too quickly, don’t worry, we’re in the same boat. It seems like just a few short weeks ago that we were announcing news from this year’s NAMM show and already we’re only days away from one of the biggest Pro Audio trade shows in Europe – Prolight + Sound (we’ve got the full show preview here).

This month’s main feature heads to the stage for a look at what has become one of the biggest staples on any major production: in-ear monitoring systems.

Our own game sound guru John Broomhall reports on the sound and music of Xbox One launch title (and fastest selling Xbox racing game in history), Forza Motorsport 5 – a project he was personally involved with as a music supervisor and second composer.

In some of our regular features, broadcast audio specialist Will Strauss talks to freelance sound guarantee engineer Mark ‘Gadget’ Reed fresh from a stint at the Sochi Olympics about rigging a sporting event for live broadcast while Jake Young heads to Rimshot Studio in the Kent countryside.

All this plus an interview with acclaimed sound recordist Chris Watson, a rundown of the current market for compact digital consoles, a look at the new Alchemy Mastering studio in west London, and a focus on the pro audio industry in Spain including an interview with Ibiza-based producer and Sonic Vista Studio owner L Henry Sarmiento II.

As always, the March issue is loaded full of reviews including an in-depth look at API Audio’s The Box, Allen & Heath’s ME System, the Earthworks 521 ZDT Preamp, McDSP’s Everything Pack, and Radial Engineering’s EXTC and M3.
