Mike Lavelle joins CLD

CLD Distribution has appointed Mike Lavelle to the position of technical sales manager.

Lavelle’s role will be based ‘on the road’, visiting existing customers and potential new ones, whilst learning about the ever-changing requirements of clients. He will also be responsible for assessing whether new and different products should be added to the ranges.

Nigel Howes, managing director and founder of CLD, said: Mike brings a wealth of experience in the professional audio industry, plus an enormous and eclectic contacts base. He is hugely respected and we have known him for over 20 years. CLD has a very positive staff atmosphere and so he fits in perfectly with our philosophies, attitudes, commitments and everyone else on the team.”

Lavelle began his career in the industry as a DJ, before moving on to running events and co-ordinating technical production. He then worked at Le Maitre/LSD, where he ran the company’s distribution arm, and subsequently was appointed to the position of director at Leisure Services UK.

Following his time at Leisure Services UK, he spent 12 years working in the field of technical production management. He then started his own venture of supplying events with lighting and sound systems.

He commented: “Having known Nigel over 20 years as a customer and just having completed four years as telephone technical support for an MI importer I really wanted to get out onto the front line again – travelling, meeting people, seeing faces and interacting. I always relish a challenge, so here I am.”

Howes added: “CLD is very excited to have Mike onboard! We know it will be a great asset to the company’s future development and that his energy and proactivity will be a massive boost to our long term strategies and growth plans.”
