MIPRO makes MM-59B mic for Asia Beatbox Championship

The Asia Beatbox Championship 2016, held by TWBEATBOX.com and sponsored by MIPRO, saw the official debut of the manufacturer’s new MM-59B beatbox microphone.

The event marked the first international beatbox tournament to be held in Asia, taking place in Taipei this summer. With more than 180 participants from 18 Asian countries involved in the early stages and three beatbox masters as the jury, the final 16 came together in the Tawianese capital on 20 August 2016, and after rounds of competition, 17-year-old Piratheeban was crowned champion.

For all of the competition performances and three jury member showcases, MIPRO MM-59B dynamic microphones were used throughout. MM-59B is designed specifically for beatboxers. According to MIPRO it offers detailed clarity, plenty of low end and is able to handle high sound pressure levels.

It also features an anti-vibration microphone capsule and anti-pop capsule module. The capsule suspension design can eliminate the resonance from the housing and increase the sound clarity as well as the frequency response from high to low, the company says. It also states that the anti-pop grille can be easily detached for easy cleaning, and ensures uninterrupted sound reproduction.

“When we knew they wanted to find a microphone for beatbox, we recommend and custom-made our latest dynamic microphone MM-59," said MIPRO CEO K.C. Chang. "After testing, they really liked the sound quality and we decided to base and develop the MM-59B for them.”

TWBEATBOX.com coordinator, Mic Lee, added: “For beatboxers, the microphone should be able to sustain extremely high SPL, otherwise when we make drum sound effect, the high pressure will result in cracking sound. Besides, the frequency response should be extended in high frequency as much as possible, thus help our vocal percussion techniques can be heard clearly. The MM-59 dynamic microphone completely satisfied our requirements.”
