NAMM 2012: New Tascam interfaces announced

Tascam has introduced two new interfaces this year – iXZ and iU2.

The pocket size iXZ (pictured) can turn an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch into a recording device and includes XLR, guitar and mic inputs and phantom power for when condenser micas are used.

When plugging in a microphone, guitar or bass, the user can utilise the latest guitar amp, sampling recording and DJ Apps. Users can set the gain and a headphone monitor is also included, along with switchable mic.line input and high impedance guitar output. Power comes from two AA batteries.

The iU2 is an audio/MIDI interface for use with Mac, Windows and iOS devices.

It features two XLR mic inputs with phantom power, two balanced line inputs, instrument-level input for guitars and MIDI in/out.

It also offers onboard A/D conversion for low-noise when recording and zero-latency direct monitoring. The iU2 comes with a USB cable, dock connection cable, XLR to 1/4" conversion cables and S/PDIF digital outputs.
