NAMM 2014: Genelec to release the new 8010 studio monitor

Genelec has announced a new addition to its popular 8000 Series: the 8010.

The Genelec 8010 is the smallest member of the 8000 Series and is aimed at broadcast, music, and post-production users who are looking for an accurate monitoring solution in a small package. Due to its compact size and universal power supply it is also perfectly suited for mobile music production.

The monitor features a balanced XLR input, 3in bass driver, 0.75in tweeter, and efficient Class D power amplifiers – one for each driver – providing excellent response and SPL (96dB) in a 195 x 121 x 116mm cabinet. The Intelligent Signal Sensing ISS circuitry saves energy by automatically putting the monitor to sleep when the audio signal has been absent for a while. Once a signal is detected again, the monitor wakes up automatically. This circuitry can be bypassed when automatic standby function is not desired.

A full range of versatile accessories is available for 8010, which cover all mounting needs. For example, an elegant L-shaped table stand can be used to optimise monitor orientation toward the listening position and to minimise undesired sound reflections.
