NAMM 2016: Fender enters IEM market

Guitar giant Fender has launched a surprise line of Pro In-Ear Monitors at NAMM 2016.

The company has described the move as "an exciting step in the expansion of its product offering," and has equipped its new IEMs with ‘unique patented technology’ designed to offer ‘an immersive listening experience at every price point’.

Designed and assembled in Nashville, Fender’s Pro In-ear Monitors offer features such as 3D-printed Digital Hybrid Technology (DHT) housings in the higher-end models, which are derived from the scanning of thousands of ears to create a universal fit. The DHT shells are designed to fit 95% of ears.

All models feature custom designed drivers and select models in the series come with a patented Hybrid-Dynamic tuned Balanced Armature Array (HDBA) for a full frequency response with ‘substantial bass’ and ‘an overall optimum performance.’

Last year’s acquisition of Aurisonics has, Fender says, allowed it to enter this new category with a significant advantage with the use of the company’s technology and engineering capabilities.

The Fender Pro In-Ear Monitor Series will be available in five models: DXA1, FXA2, FXA5, FXA6 and FXA7. Accompanying each package is a deluxe carrying case, SureSeal tips assortment, a cleaning tool and cable.

"Fender is committed to delivering innovative products and services that accompany players at every stage of their musical experience," said Jim Ninesling, VP of Fender Amplifiers and Pro Audio. "We believe serious players and discriminating audiophiles alike will appreciate both the design and performance of Fender IEM’s, setting the stage for further additions to this new line in the future.”
