PMC appoints Dan Zimbelman to management team and Heff Moraes joins as UK Business Development Manager

Loudspeaker brand PMC has made two major appointments, with Dan Zimbelman joining as Senior Export Business Development Manager and Heff Moraes taking on the role of Business Development Manager for the UK.

Based in the U.S., Zimbelman will focus on nurturing and developing relationships with key clients, providing expert advice on all aspects of studio monitoring and ensuring that customers choose the right PMC products for their needs.

He will also work closely with partners and resellers to ensure that they have all the training they need to boost sales in their local markets. This includes training on new formats such as Dolby Atmos for music mixing.

With a career spanning nearly 50 years, Zimbelman has held many key positions within the pro audio industry including nearly 30 years as Director of Sales for console manufacturer API. During the 1980s, he spent three years helping Rupert Neve to launch the Focusrite brand of signal processing equipment in the U.S.

“Throughout his career, Dan has worked in the upper echelons of the professional studio world and having someone of his calibre on the team at this critical time is an enormous benefit,” said PMC CEO Jeff Willcocks. “He understands our industry inside out and shares our philosophy that quality and customer service should always be at the top of the agenda.”

Zimbelman said: “After a successful career as the Director of Sales for API, the best analogue recording console brand on the planet, having the chance to handle International Business Development for the most impressive brand of studio monitors in the world was an opportunity that I just couldn’t pass up,” he says. “I am looking forward to building on the amazing success that PMC has achieved. It is going to be an exciting challenge to use my experience and the strong relationships I have developed over many years to grow the influence of PMC worldwide.”

PMC also recently appointed renowned recording and mix engineer Heff Moraes as Business Development Manager for the UK.

Moraes will be based at PMC Studio London, PMC’s recently opened demo facility dedicated to Dolby Atmos music mixing. There he will act as a brand ambassador for PMC products, using his extensive industry knowledge and experience to support dealers and help customers identify the right kit.

“Heff’s credentials are second to none,” said Willcocks.. “He thoroughly understands modern recording techniques, he has excellent contacts with artists, producers and record labels, and he has hands-on experience of PMC’s products. We are really thrilled that he is now part of our team and delighted that he will be endorsing and supporting our product range in such a visible and enthusiastic way.”

Starting his career at Trevor Horn’s Sarm Studios in 1984, Moraes went on to work with many top producers and artists before taking a break from the music industry in 2007. He returned in 2017 to build and manage the studio at Tape, a private members club in London that regularly hosts live performances.

“If you want to make great music, you have to be brave,” said Moraes. “In order to be brave, you have to trust that what you are listening to is accurate. This is why it is so crucial to have monitors that deliver absolute accuracy and clarity – and in my opinion only PMC monitors can achieve this. Listening through a PMC system is the only truly transparent monitoring I have experienced and I believe the company’s products provide the perfect vehicle to help producers and engineers create better sounding records.

“I hope we can encourage current and well-known artists to mix in Atmos because content that young people want to buy is what will drive the format.”
