PreSonus Atom SQ MIDI keyboard/pad controller takes creativity on the road

Presonus has introduced the Atom SQ MIDI keyboard/pad controller for music production and live performance. Bus-powered, compact and portable, Atom SQ can be used in the studio, on stage, or on the road.

It features a staggered 32-pad layout that will be familiar to both keyboard players and drum programmers. Pressure-sensitive pads feature poly aftertouch, for expressive performances, while RGB LEDs make for intuitive, customisable colour-coordination of samples and loops.

Atoms SQ is all about the joy of creating a groove while in the groove, says the manufacturer. ‘Set up a couple of loop points and bang out your beats and melodies on the fly, without getting bogged down in menus, setup, or configuration.’

A built-in arpeggiator and user-configurable touch strip provide expressive control. Advanced features let users change the keyboard scale and map the eight assignable rotary encoders to control almost any parameter.

An LCD screen displays context-sensitive information, with a dynamic button system that changes function depending on the task at hand. The Atom SQ also supports deep integration with the Studio One Pattern Editor, allowing it to function as a TR-style 16-step sequencer.

You can navigate Studio One without a mouse and keyboard using the transport controls, a dedicated Click toggle, timeline zoom in/out, and track navigation. Studio One 5 Artist is included and now features full ReWire, VST/AU, and Studio One Remote support. Ableton Live Lite is also included with Atom SQ.
