The Church Studios’ Riley MacIntyre was declared the winner of the 2015 Rising Star prize, sponsored by Soundcraft, at this year’s Pro Sound Awards in London.

The engineer, who has become an integral part of the setup at the facility since joining less than two years ago, was one of ten young, up-and-coming professionals shortlisted by Audio Media International prior to this year’s event, following a flurry of nominations from across the industry earlier this year.

MacIntyre’s first year at The Church was something of a ‘baptism of fire’, and saw him work on projects for Adele, U2 and more. Furthermore, he has not only mastered one of only a handful of unique EMI Neve consoles in existence, but also proven himself proficient on the studio’s more modern SSL board too, according to his colleagues.

His co-workers say he combines a willingness to learn with determination to grasp a wide range of technology – both new and old – from 2-inch tape to building multiple computer systems that keep the studio running day-to-day.

He has clearly made a big impression in a short space of time and no doubt has a fantastic career ahead of him.

Although MacIntyre had commitments in his home country of Canada on the night, and was therefore unable to pick up the Award in person, multiple BRIT and MPG Award-winning producer and owner of The Church, Paul Epworth (pictured, below), was in attendance at Ministry of Sound to collect the award on his behalf.
