Royer and Roland Honoured

Royer Labs has received the Technical Grammy Award for its ribbon microphones. Technical Grammy Award recipients are determined by vote of the Academy’s Producers and Engineers Wing Advisory Council and Chapter Committees, as well as the Recording Academy’s National Board of Trustees. The award is presented to individuals and companies who have made contributions of outstanding technical significance to the recording field. The Recording Academy said: "Royer Labs’ line of ribbon microphones has made a profound difference in the way engineers record music."

Also honoured this year was Roland founder Ikutaro Kakehashi and Dave Smith, for their contributions to the development of MIDI. "I am very happy that MIDI has been regarded as a global standard by many musicians all over the world, even 30 years after its development,” said Ikutaro Kakehashi."
