Shure and PAMA launch Mark Brunner Professional Audio Scholarship

In partnership with Shure, the Professional Audio Manufacturers Alliance (PAMA) has launched a scholarship in honour of long-time Shure executive Mark Brunner.

The Mark Brunner Professional Audio Scholarship will be offered annually to students around the globe who are pursuing an education in professional audio.

A founding member and former president of PAMA, and Shure’s VP of Global Corporate and Government Relations, Brunner passed away unexpectedly in October 2020.

The $2,000 scholarship aims to reflect Brunner’s passion for education and mentorship throughout his career.

“We established the Mark Brunner Pro Audio Scholarship as our way of paying tribute to one of the leading voices of our industry,” said Chris Regan, Chair of the board of directors at PAMA. “One of Mark’s tenets was his unwavering pursuit to educate. Whether he was at the U.S. Congress representing the industry on spectrum allocation issues, on one of the countless industry panels he participated in, or with colleagues at Shure and across the pro audio industry, Mark truly embodied the persona of teacher.

“He valued his time in his personal studio and shared his wisdom with so many throughout his career with passion. It’s with that same passion that we wish to award an annual scholarship in his name.”

Applications for the 2021 awards are open until 31 May, will successful applicants notified by 31 August. To apply, students must submit a 300-word essay detailing why they are pursuing an audio degree and how they plan to use it in future.

Scholarship awards of up to $2,000 per year will be given out and applicants can reapply for each year of their degree program, up to a maximum of four years.

Chris Schyvinck, Shure President and CEO, said: “Mark was a steadfast ambassador for Shure, helping us preserve our legendary reputation with Associates, customers, influencers, and the public. I knew Mark for more than three decades, and I dearly miss his presence every day. I know that this scholarship would mean so much to my friend, as it does to our Company.”
