Sony launches new DWZ Series microphones

Sony continues to expand its professional product portfolio with the newly launched 2.4 GHz DWZ Series of microphones, which are designed to combine ease of use with optimum RF transmission reliability.

The new 2.4 GHz DWZ series includes combinations of hand-held microphones, bodypack transmitters and rack-mount or compact size receivers, with the various components intended for use across a multitude of applications.

The DWZ Series includes: DWZ-B30GB Digital Wireless Package-Guitar kit, DWZ-B70HL Digital Wireless Package-Headset and Lavalier kit, DWZ-M50 Digital Wireless Package/Vocal kit and DWZ-M70 Digital Wireless Package-Vocal/Speechkit.

“The DWZ series builds on Sony’s extensive wireless expertise to deliver the most flexibility and the highest levels of performance,” said Markus Warlich, product specialist for Professional Audio, Sony Europe. “These new packages are ideal for small to mid-size wireless audio applications, combining outstanding sound quality, stable transmission, performance and durability.”

The DWZ components include:

· Rack-mount receivers with integrated colour LCD and built-in digital Equalizer

· Interchangeable handheld capsule design supports Sony or third-party microphone capsules

· Balanced and unbalanced audio outputs

The DWZ-M50 Vocal Kit comes with a uni-directional dynamic interchangeable microphone capsule with a handheld transmitter and half-rack size receiver, while the DWZ-B30GB Guitar Set includes a bodypack transmitter with guitar cable and compact size receiver supporting three-way powering (AC adapter, 9V battery, external DC) and cable tone control.

Meanwhile, the DWZ-M70 Vocal/ Speech Kit includes a uni-directional dynamic interchangeable microphone capsule, handheld transmitter and half-rack size receiver with advanced DSP (Digital Signal Processing) functions.

The DWZ-B70HL Headset and Lavalier Kit is comprised of a uni-directional condenser headset microphone and a uni-directional condenser Lavalier microphone with one bodypack transmitter and a half-rack size receiver with advanced DSP functions.

Both the DWZ-M70 and DWZ-B70HL packages both offer Sony’s advanced digital signal processing to automatically minimize feedback; 128-bit AES encryption for secure transmission and a transmitter recharging function supporting NiMH AA battery use along with an optional contactless battery charger.

The DWZ Series is planned to be available starting this autumn, with suggested list pricing to be announced.
