Soundtrack Group opens new Dolby Atmos room

After six months and thousands of hours of construction, Soundtrack Group has revealed its new mix stage: Stage K.

Stage K is the only dubbing stage in New York to be Dolby Atmos Certified and will be the home of acclaimed mix engineer Dom Tavella (Black Swan, Chicago, Pi) who has worked on over 180 films in his career so far.

Stage K was designed by LA audio guru Jeff Cooper, who was also responsible for the Soundtrack F/T stages on 22nd street in New York as well as the new stages at Audio Head, BlueWave (Universal), and The Voice TV stage in California.

The system design for monitoring, projection, re-recording, and overall integration provided by Soundtrack Chief Engineer Chris Neylan.

The room’s centrepiece is an Avid System 5 console with more than 500 inputs and 64 busses coupled with a Christie 2K capable monitor. Monitoring is from JBL drivers and Crown amplifiers controlled by BSS Soundweb systems which can be set for 5.1, 7.1, and Atmos configurations with over 20,000 watts of amplification on tap if needed.

Stage K also features stations for 6 editors, a 21-foot screen and is surrounded by a suite of seven editorial support rooms, an ADR stage, conference room, and a client kitchen area.
