U2 to bring own stage to Glastonbury?

Glastonbury chief Michael Eavis has suggested that headliners U2 may be providing their own stage at this weekend’s festival, the NME has reported.

He told the Daily Star: “U2 are excited, especially after they couldn’t come last year. I first tried to book them 35 years ago. They are bringing their own stage with them. We are having to put a lot of stuff in for them but we’re so happy to have them.”

However, Eavis’ comments should not yet be read as fact, as it is logistically impossible to install ‘the claw’ on Worthy Farm, and Glastonbury’s listings still state that U2 will be playing the Pyramid Stage.

Yet, if these claims are in fact true, it would not be the first time that a band has brought their own stage to a festival. Last year’s Download headliners, ACDC, provided their own stage to accommodate the huge production of their live show.
