Universal Plugs In

Universal Audio has revealed UAD new plug-ins at NAMM 2013, including the impending release of the API 500 Series EQ Plug-in Collection. The API-endorsed, UA-developed collection features emulations of the API 550A three-band and API 560 graphic equalisers. Additionally the collection features presets from several well-known engineers and producers, including Ross Hogarth, Vance Powell, Eli Janney, Jeff Juliano, Carl Glanville and Darrell Thorp.

Also announced was the Teletronix LA-2A Classic Leveller Collection, with emulations of three distinct Teletronix hardware units. The collection is modelled on the entire electronic path of three hardware units: ‘Silver, ‘Gray’ and the original LA-2 model. In addition, the company announced the debut of Softube’s Vintage Amp Room, Metal Amp Room, Bass Amp Room and Acoustic Feedback Deluxe plug-ins.

Universal Audio also unveiled future enhancements for the Apollo High-Resolution Interface – turning the unit into a scalable system capable of recording larger music projects on both Mac and Windows 7 machines. Among the new Apollo interface features scheduled for delivery in the first half of 2013 is multi-unit cascading, which combines two Apollo interfaces into a single system via FireWire or Thunderbolt. Multi-unit cascading provides simultaneous use of 16 analogue inputs/outputs, including eight Apollo mic preamps, plus 12 digital inputs and outputs. This is navigated via a redesigned Console application, offering improved visual feedback. a new Mix-Merge mode and a Pro Tools mode which simplifies integration with Pro Tools systems.
