Void Acoustics system for new Blackpool venue

Home & HQ, a new trio of venues in Blackpool, UK from the Nordwind family – a big name in the seaside resort’s clubbing history – has now opened, powered by a custom pearl white Void Acoustics sound system.

Home is an affluent bar/lounge with cocktail bar, VIP bar and plush booth seating while the first floor, named HQ, is a dance club themed on a New York loft. It features a Void Acoustics sound system with four Stasys Xair and two Stasys X V2 low frequency enclosures, two Nexus 6, two Air Motions and many Cyclone 10s. In 2017 The Urban Lounge will complete the trio.

Back in the early ’90s the Nordwind family embarked on their first ambitious project which achieved numerous awards throughout the decade. Some five years later the family took on their greatest challenge by purchasing the enormous ABC Theatre to create the UK’s biggest ‘triple scene superclub’ named The Syndicate.

Whilst the original directors of Fourwinds Leisure, Sandra Nordwind (managing director) and Mike Nordwind (finance director) are still involved, their roles are now only consultancy based.

“We specify and install Void sound systems because no other brand gives the same visual experience whilst maintaining acoustic integrity, and listening satisfaction as Void. The Nordwind family fell in love with the Nexus 6 and as they say the rest is history. After three years planning we developed a sound system that had the flexibility to evolve with the club,” said Paul Adamson of The Audio Group, which completed the installation.

“In the ground floor space called Home we installed custom pearl white Air Motions along with white Stasys Xairs with white Cyclone 10 and Venu X deployed as fills. Upstairs in HQ we have Nexus 6 front of house left and right of the DJ, with four Stasys Xairs and two Stasys X V2s. For the rear dance floor fill we used two Air Motions and Cyclone 10 on fill duty,” Adamson explained. “DJ monitoring is provided by Airtens on custom moving brackets so move closer or further to suit any DJs preference. With the system upstairs it was agreed the only colour to fit the bill was Void red throughout.”

“The first time we listened to our Void Acoustics sound system my jaw hit the floor, I’ve never heard anything sound that good. I couldn’t be happier,” remarked operations and hospitality director Mark Nordwind.
