Whiplash team takes BAFTA for Best Sound

The sound crew responsible for the acclaimed American drama Whiplash took home the award for Best Sound at the BAFTAs last night.

The award recognised the work of the film’s audio team, which included Ben Wilkins, Thomas Curley and Craig Mann. The trio managed to see off competition from the American Sniper, Birdman, The Grand Budapest Hotel and The Imitation Game crews.

The film also won the award for Best Editing – going to Tom Cross – and Best Supporting Actor, which went to J.K. Simmons. It had previously won a 2015 AMPS award for its excellence in sound as well.

Look out for an interview with Wilkins in the March edition of Audio Media International.
