Yamaha launch acoustic Echo Cancelling Card

Yamaha has introduced an acoustic Echo Cancelling Card for its DME series.

The DME series of digital mixing engines is used in a wide range of markets, such as theatre, broadcasting, commercial installations and live events. The MY4-AEC Echo Canceller Card is designed to increase the potential of the DME series in the audio and video conferencing markets.

Remote conferencing systems are aimed to substantially reduce travel time and costs, as well as aid the implementation of environmentally friendly policies.

Suitable or use in large conference rooms, the Echo Cancelling Card negates the echo that arises when the sound from a loudspeaker is picked up by a microphone in the same room. The card features four channels of adaptive echo cancelling (AEC), which automatically calculate the best settings according to the environment and the equipment being used.

To facilitate the use of other digital equipment, the MY4-AEC has four channels of AES/EBU I/O. The I/O ports include sampling rate converters, which ensure easy connection to equipment with different sample rates.

“The demand for an echo canceller for the DME series has grown in parallel with the remote conferencing market. As we have the necessary technologies in-house, we produced the MY4-AEC to satisfy that demand,” said Nick Cook, European marketing director, commercial audio. “We are very pleased to be able to offer this new solution to Yamaha DME users.”
