You Me At Six chose Audio-Technica for sold-out UK tour

UK pop punkers You Me at Six have put several of of Audio Technica’s microphones to use for their live shows.

The band has been on a steady upward course since their debut album Take off you Colours was released in 2008. After releasing their second album, Hold me Down, the band set off on a sold-out headline tour of the UK.

The band’s front of house engineer Adam Boole has employed a pair of Audio-Technica AE3000 cardioid condenser microphones for ride and hi-hat cymbal applications on the tour, while an AT4047 large diaphragm condenser is used as drum overhead

“I tried so many brands before I finally found the AT4047,” he revealed, “which brings a little ‘air’ into the drum sound. I couldn’t find what I wanted with any other microphone, but the AT4047 fitted the bill perfectly. The AE3000s really accentuate the ‘ping’ on the cymbals; it’s just a crystal clear sound and the mics are really impressive.”

Boole also relies on a pair of Audio-Technica ATH-M50 headphones for line-check and monitoring duties. “I use my M50s constantly,” he said, “I’ve tried them against other big brands and nothing comes close – when we’re on tour it’s good to know the Audio-Technica kit just won’t let me down.”
