Abbey Road Red adds The Audio Hunt

Abbey Road Studios has announced a new round of startup companies to join its music technology incubator programme Abbey Road Red.

The new additions include The Audio Hunt, an online marketplace and community designed to give musicians, engineers, producers and others easy access to great audio gear and services. Users can search the database for rare equipment, effects or instruments and send their tracks to the owner for processing. They can also search the community and send their whole projects for mixing or mastering or start full musical collaborations.

Abbey Road Red is the only incubator of its kind in Europe focused on music tech startups.

“We’re honoured to be a part of the Abbey Road history and work with their team on expanding the potential of The Audio Hunt to truly democratise audio gear and studios worldwide,” said Stephen Bartlett, TheAudioHunt.com’s co-Founder and CEO.

The website – which is just a year old – already features over $5 million of gear, and has obtained backing from major studios and experts such as multi Grammy award winner Kevin Killen (David Bowie, U2, Shakira, Bon Jovi), Ryan West (Jay Z, Kanye West, Rihanna, Eminem) and Cenzo Townshend (Kaiser Chiefs, Florence and the Machine, Snow Patrol, The Maccabees).

The other newcomers are Qrates, a vinyl crowdfunding platform that allows artists and labels to collect pre-orders from fans and fund their cost before pressing the vinyl and Scored, a music library and film scoring application that allows users of all ability levels to dynamically change music in real-time to match their content’.

The trio of companies will soon begin a six month mentoring programme where Abbey Road Studios will support these startups in every aspect of development, providing access to the studio’s staff, knowledge and facilities as well as access to the Abbey Road Red Board – this team includes executives across Abbey Road Studios and Universal Music Group with a wide range of skills and knowledge base.
