Adlib provides audio equipment for four arenas at Creamfields 2013

Adlib Solutions supplied full sound design and equipment packages to four arenas at this year’s electronic dance music (EDM) festival Creamfields in the UK.

The Liverpool-based firm again worked closely with creative and technical production specialists LarMac LIVE for the event, which took place at Daresbury Estate in Cheshire over the August Bank Holiday Weekend.

Adlib, which has been designing EDM sound systems for many years, chose L-Acoustics, Coda Audio and JBL VerTec gear for the 2013 festival.

In the Cream Arena, a large JBL system supplied enough power to fill out the enormous tent with "fabulously smooth, rich, even coverage," according to Adlib.

A total of 20 JBL VT 4889s a side formed the main hangs, with six 4889s per side for the delays alongside an array of 24 JBL VT4880 VerTec subs combined with eight L-Acoustics SB28s. Monitoring came through eight Adlib MP3 low profile wedges, while the DJ fills were four L-Acoustics ARCs – two a side – on top of a single SB28 a side – all running via two Yamaha PM5D consoles.

The Coda systems were deployed in three areas – Skream & Benga, Annie Mac and Hospitality.

In Skream & Benga, 20 Coda Airline LA12s were used for the main arrays, with 12 Coda ViRAYs for delays. 24 Coda SCP-F subs, as well as Yamaha PM5D and Midas PRO2 consoles, completed the set-up. For monitoring, Adlib’s own FD / DF speakers for DJ fills, together with eight Adlib MP3 wedges, were utilised.

The Annie Mac arena featured another 20 Coda Airline LA12s and 16 Coda SCP-F subs for the main system, along with Digico SD10 and Soundcraft Vi1 consoles, Lake processing and speaker management and Adlib proprietary DJ monitoring.

The system in Hospitality consisted of eight Airline LA12s and eight Airline LA8 infills for the main stage and area, combined with four Adlib 1214e infill speakers for the side tents.

“Expectations are high at any event but here working with the Cream brand, LarMac LIVE and delivering to the very high expectations of the client & to their audience …. is Adlib’s ultimate challenge,” commented Adlib director Peter Abraham.
