AKG joins hunt for UKs best small venue

AKG, along with their UK distributor Sound Technology, have joined NME’s search for Britain’s best small venue.

With many of the UK’s smaller live music venues currently under threat, the NME are running a campaign designed to highlight just how important these venues are to the British live scene.

The campaign involves fans nominating their favourite small venue. The winning venue will receive a complete set of stage microphones worth over £2,500 from AKG and Sound Technology.

Such venues to have closed over the past few years include Brighton’s Freebutt (noise pollution), The Charlotte in Leicester (to make space for flats) and The Point in Cardiff (financial constraints).

The 100 Club in London reached the brink of closure last December, until a grassroots campaign drew the support of such artists as Mick Jagger, Paul McCartney and Liam Gallagher managed to save the famous venue.
