Audio nominees for 2016 Oscars announced

The 2016 Oscar nominees have been revealed, with The Revenant,Mad Max: Fury Road, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and The Martian audio crews all named as contenders in the sound editing and mixing categories this year.

Sound professionals responsible for action crime thriller Sicario and Tom Hanks’ historical drama thriller Bridge of Spies are also nominated for awards in the editing and mixing categories respectively.

The Revenant, starring Leonardo Di Caprio and Tom Hardy, leads the way overall with 12 nominations.

The 88th Academy Awards will be held at the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood and will be hosted by Chris Rock, who previously hosted the awards show in 2005.
