Coachella 2012 headliners announced

The Black Keys, Radiohead and Dr Dre and Snoop Dogg have been announced as headliners for this year’s Coachella festival in California.

The Coachella Valley Music and Arts festival will take place for the first time over two consecutive weekends, the first on April 13-5th and the second on April 20-22nd.

In addition to the aforementioned headliners, a vast and eclectic array of high-profile acts will appear at the six-day event, including Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, Swedish House Mafia, Bon Iver, David Guetta and DJ Shadow, to name but a few.

Paul Tollett, who heads AEG-owned concert promoter Goldenvoice, said that the event’s expansion was a direct result of the increase in demand for tickets. “We wanted to create access for as many people as possible,” he commented.

“The thought of this selling out super quick, and the only people who get to go are the people who bought the first minute or bought tickets for more than they sold for, that didn’t seem great to us,” he continued. “We didn’t want to go with more people and ruin the experience. We can’t add a midnight show, and we didn’t want to add another city or raise the ticket price. So we decided to add another weekend.”
