Coda Audio hits the road with ‘genre-defying’ Symphoniacs

Touring production specialists Ambion GmbH of Kaufungen, Germany chose a complete Coda Audio sound reinforcement system for their recent tour outing with ‘genre-defying’ ensemble Symphoniacs.

Fusing classical violin, cello and piano with electronic sounds and beats, Symphoniacs is a collective of young musicians from around the world, who present a classical-meets-club mixture that has been described as fresh and distinctly different. The varying nature of the venues demanded a highly flexible, lightweight sound system that was both powerful and provided great sound quality.

Ambion selected Coda’s ViRAY system used in combination with a TiRAY fill-system. The setup was completed with Coda SC2-F, 2 x 15-inch flown sensor controlled bass extensions and SCV-F, single 18-inch sensor controlled subwoofers. The whole system was driven by LINUS10-C amplifiers, using the LINUS Live platform via LINET for distribution and tuning.

"This was a very exciting and demanding production, working with top-class musicians. We had only one trailer so it was essential that we used a system that could provide the flexibility we required in the different venues but was compact enough for our restricted truck-space,” said Ambion’s head of audio Michael Wengerter. “In consultation with system-tech Michael Wirth and FOH engineer Ingo Thürauf, we chose the combination of ViRAY and TiRAY, which proved to be a very good decision."

"We encountered a wide variety of conditions for rigging and audio but the system delivered excellent performance throughout the tour,” Wirth added. “I am definitely convinced by the merits of the DDPdriver technology – the system was easy to handle and gave me consistent frequency response in every situation."
