Dave Grohl previews new studio-based TV show

As reported by Classic Rock magazine last month, Dave Grohl is expanding on the premise of his acclaimed Sound City documentary with a new TV show on HBO.

Sonic Highways will see the Foo Fighter’s guitarist and ex-Nirvana drummer tour the world, visiting some of the most iconic recording studios, while conducting interviews with some of the artists who have recorded at each facility.

Studios already announced to be featured include Nirvana/Page & Plan producer Steve Albini’s Electrical Audio studio in Chicago, Don Zientara’s Inner Ear studios in Washington DC (where Fugazi, Henry Rollins’ first band S.O.A., and Grohl’s pre-Nirvana punk rock band Scream recorded), and Rancho de La Luna studios in Claifornia, a site at which Queens of the Stone Age, Arctic Monkeys, and Mark Lanegan, among others, have all recorded.

The singer has also visited studios in New York, Seattle, and Nashville.
