Focusrite Red series mic pre returns in ‘Lunchbox’ format

Focusrite has brought back its Red mic pre – in a new 500 Series or ‘Lunchbox’ form factor.

Released in 1993, the classic Red range of products featured circuitry from the original ISA110 modules designed by Rupert Neve for Air Studios. The Red 1 mic preamp soon became popular with some of the world’s leading studios for its unique signature sound.

Made in England, and equipped with the same circuit topology and components as the original Red 1 mic pre designs, Red 1 500 provides the same level of performance as its predecessors, but in a more modern format – a 500 Series or ‘Lunchbox’ portable modular system – suitable for portable applications, as well as studio use.

Red 1 500, which is shipping now, offers a compact interface to digital recording systems, or for location recordings.
