HL Audio gearing up for Glastonbury 2017

Somerset-based HL Audio, which has handled all the audio and lighting needs for the Glastonbury Avalon Cafe Stage since 2007, is now preparing another HK Audio and Lewitt sound package ahead of the 2017 festival this weekend.

Located in Frome, HL Audio has a long association with HK Audio from back when it first invested in an Actor DX PA system from the German sound reinforcement specialist, often opting for two linked Actor DX setups or alternatively a Projector rig.

These days, though, HL directors Tom Pepler and Will Angeloro have found that two full HK Audio active LTS systems are ideal for the eclectic mix of acts that frequent the Avalon Cafe Stage, from rock groups to ten-piece funk bands, folk acts to world music.

For stage monitoring, they use a mixture of the PREMIUM PR:O PRO 15XD and Linear 5 L5112XA cabinets, as the quick changeovers and varying stage requirements demand frequent monitor repositioning for optimised sound.

Then there’s the choice of mics: “Recently, we have begun using the Lewitt wireless and wired range as a new addition to our microphone stock," said Pepler. “We are finding that more often than not, we reach for the Lewitt MTP250 over other microphones. The feedback rejection allows the artist to be heard clearly on stage, at higher volumes, while also providing a clearer signal for better FOH mixing.”

And it seems that HK Audio speakers will remain a feature of this area of the festival for some time. “Overall, we are extremely happy with HK Audio," Pepler continued. "We have had a history of superb sound, happy bands, and satisfied crowds. The LTS is the latest in a long line of HK products that will serve the Avalon Cafe Stage’s needs perfectly.”

HK Audio and Lewitt are distributed in the UK by JHS & Co. Ltd.
