iZotope release new Ozone 5 software mastering suite

Massachusetts-based audio tech company, iZotope, have released the next installments to their critically-acclaimed Ozone software mastering suite, Ozone 5 and Ozone 5 Advanced.

The new Ozone 5 provides significant updates on Ozone 4. These include refined signal processing algorithms which provide enhanced mastering quality as well as sharpened up visual feedback metering system for each module including spectrums, phase meters, vectorscopes and level histograms.

What is more, Ozone has benefitted from an updated and improved user interface (UI). This allows users to gain finer control as well as placing the important features right at the fingertips of the user. According to iZotope, this means that new users can use Ozone 5 without a too steep learning curve whilst also ensuring that seasoned Ozone users will move over without issue.

“Whether you’re a musician, engineer, or mastering pro, Ozone 5 lets you master music and other audio simply and efficiently,” explained iZotope Senior Product Manager, Nick Dika. “Ozone 5 is the biggest update we’ve ever offered, with improvements that will appeal to Ozone experts and new users alike.”

Ozone 5 Advanced builds even further upon these developments.

Certain features have been extended with Ozone 5 Advanced. This includes a unique mixed-phase EQ, Loudness Mazimiser modes (with transient recovery and stereo link controls), mono-compatible stereo synthesis features and more.

Further Ozone 5 Advanced features include the all-new Meter Bridge. This incorporates a full suite of extended audio analysis and visualisation tools (such as a high resolution real-time 3D spectrogram) all within one configurable window.

This includes BS.1770-2 compatible stereo loudness metering, resizable spectrum analyser and a vectorscope with stereo balance and correlation meters.

The inclusion of Meter Tap plug-ins allows users an unprecedented visualization of how a mix’s elements fit together. Using Meter Tap, multiple audio streams can be superimposed on a 2D or 3D plot.

Plug-in flexibility has also been improved. Users are able to utilise the Ozone 5 Advanced mastering modules as an integrated mastering system or as individual plug-ins. You are able to easily move module presets between Ozone 5 Advanced and its individual components freely.

The recommended retail price is $249/€195 and $999/€799 for Ozone 5 and Ozone 5 Advanced, respectively.

Upgrade options are also available for current Ozone customers. This is $149 and $499 to Ozone 5 and Ozone 5 Advanced, respectively.

Users who purchased Ozone 4 after October 1st 2011 will receive a free upgrade to the standard Ozone 5 immediately.
