Korean entertainment group COOL shine with Powersoft

Powersoft has announced that Korean distribution centre, DasanSR, together with sister company Rhino Sound, has recently concluded a tour with local dancing and singing group COOL in celebration of the group’s 20th anniversary.

A total of ten shows were held across Korea, which began in Seoul at the Jamsil Gymnasium, Kwanggu Kimdaejung Convention Hall and concluded back in the city.

Overseeing the entire sound set up for this tour was Gwon Seung Cheoul, systems engineer at Rhino Sound. “COOL is a very well-known Korean group from the 1990s who has consistently won awards over the past two decades and has a huge following across Korea,” he explained. “They are true icons so we were first of all very pleased to be a part of this anniversary showcase.”

The set up for the tour was straightforward. The crew used 16 EAW Anya and eight EAW SB2001 subs, with four EAW KF730 cabinets, all supported by Powersoft’s 12 K10 DSPs and eight K3s at most of the venues. A total of 32 Powersoft amps were employed. For the monitors, eight K2 DSP and four K10s were deployed to power EAW MW12s and MW15s. “With the EAW Anya, it was a quick and easy set up, and utilising Powersoft amps certainly enabled us to deliver powerful and clean sound throughout.

“COOL’s performance style was diverse and varied, which required dynamic sound and high dynamic range from the amps,” Seung Cheoul added. “With Powersoft, we achieved just that. We introduced the Powersoft X series for the last show, employing two X8s. We had 16 channels for the monitors and it was amazing.”

Rhino Sound concluded the tour with a five-man crew that took them to Busan, Seoul, Daegu, Iisan, Bucheon, Jeonju, Ulsan, Daejeon and Gwangju respectively.
