Metropolis to host masterclass with Jimi Hendrix producer

Acclaimed producer and engineer Eddie Kramer is visiting Metropolis Studios later this month to talk about his career and long-time association with Jimi Hendrix.

Those attending the event in London, which takes place on both November 17th and 18th 2013, will get to hear some of the musician’s original masters in high detail, and watch as Kramer deconstructs Hendrix’s best-known albums track-by-track at one of the world’s most famous recording studios.

The prolific engineer, who worked on all of the legendary guitarist’s albums (Electric Ladyland, Are You Experienced?, Band of Gypsies etc.) will demonstrate how he and original producer Chas Chandler were made to push the boundaries of studio technology back in the 1960s in order to match Hendrix’s virtuosity.

"I am looking forward to appearing at the great Metropolis Studios for what should be a fun and informative event”, said Kramer. “What with the new documentary film Hear My Train A- Comin’, plus the new live album Jimi Hendrix at Miami Pop to talk about.”

"I know Jimi’s fans will enjoy the unique insights that Eddie will share about classic songs such as Little Wing and Purple Haze,” added Janie L Hendrix, president and CEO of Experience Hendrix. “Eddie’s passion for Jimi’s music burns as brightly today as it did during all those amazing sessions that he recorded for him. Nothing was more important to Jimi than his music, and in Eddie he found someone dedicated to expanding the technical possibilities of recording.”

Visitors will gain access to an array of never-before-seen archive material, and also get the opportunity to ask questions at a post-presentation Q&A and meet Kramer himself. All attendees receive a signed picture and exclusive souvenirs from the Experience Hendrix Estate as well.

VIP Gold ticket holders are invited to attend a preview screening of the forthcoming Hear My Train A- Comin’ documentary with Grammy Award-winning director Bob Smeaton (November 18th), and the engineer who mastered the music for the DVD/Blu-Ray release, Mazen Murad (November 17th).
