Miloco moves into Australia with Studios 301

Miloco Studios has gone a step further with its global expansion by adding two Australian facilities to its roster of high-end studios from around the world.

Studios 301 Sydney and Studios 301 Byron Bay (pictured), Miloco’s first partners in Australia, have been used by Kanye West, Coldplay, U2, Bruce Springsteen, Flume and Angus & Julia Stone in recent years.

The new arrangement will see Miloco act as an agent in London to help bring work to the studios.

Byron Bay is a well-equipped residential studio, with a large recording room and mid-1970s vintage Neve console – originally from Festival Studios in Sydney – located right next to one of Australia’s most desirable beachside towns. The main recording space offers a Yamaha C7 grand piano, Hammond organ with Leslie cabinet and Rhodes piano. Studio 1 is surrounded by two isolation booths and a lounge room that doubles as an alternate recording space with high ceilings and natural light.

The 28/24 Neve features 1081 preamp/EQs and alongside the desk, a large portion of Festival Studios’ original outboard gear continues to be maintained in conjunction with a collection of newer studio essentials.

Studios 301 Sydney comprises two large-format recording studios, 11 production studios, three mastering rooms and two workshops, with a line-up of engineers and producers covering a variety of musical genres.

At the heart of the facility is Studio 1, which includes a 270-square-metre recording space with high ceilings, two isolation areas and a choice of two grand pianos, all placed alongside a control room kitted out with Australia’s only Neve 88R console.

The second large-format studio in Sydney, Studio 2, encompasses a 70-square-metre recording space with three isolated areas and an adjoining control room housing an SSL 9000 K series desk.

An open-plan space with ample natural light, Studio 6 was built in 2011 to deliver "studio service without the big studio price tag." In late 2013, it was upgraded with a new powered by Neve Custom Series 75 console.

There are also a number of long-term let studios available at Studios 301 Sydney.
