MPG Awards 2018 submissions extended

The submissions deadline for the 2018 Music Producers Guild (MPG) Awards has been extended to midnight on September 7.

The 2018 edition of the awards will be held at Grosvenor House, Park Lane, London on Thursday March 1, 2018.

Anyone may submit any potential candidate for any of the 16 awards, which include UK Producer of the Year, and the MPG also encourages candidates to submit their own work in any category in which they are eligible.

Shortlists of three nominations per award will be selected by MPG full members, which are then presented to the judging panel for the final selection of the winners. The judging panel is made up of record producers, recording engineers, mixers, re-mixers, record company A&R people, publishers, broadcasters and journalists.

Those entering the details of someone they would like to submit for the awards should include a summary of the recording projects they’ve worked on, while projects for consideration must have a first release date between 1 August 2016 and 31 July 2017. Further eligibility criteria is available here.

This is the statement released by the MPG regarding the extension:

We appreciate that many of you have uploaded submissions for the MPG Awards 2018. However, quite a few have told us they had been caught out by our decision to run the submissions period in August (earlier than previous years). It would seem that they hadn’t prepared their submissions or had been unable to complete them whilst on holiday or out of the country.

So…we’re allowing another 7 days to make submissions. We know that you’ll appreciate that we want to make sure that everyone has a chance to submit nominations for all of their respected and talented producers, engineers and mixers, so please bear with us while we make these last minute arrangements. Submissions will now close at midnight (23:59) on Thursday, September 7. And remember: you don’t need to be a member of the MPG to make a submission or to win an MPG Award (although we’d be very happy if everyone joins, as the MPG is run solely on members’ subscriptions and there is no other source of income!).
