Munro Acoustics designs Dolby Atmos studio for Luxembourg-based firm

Munro Acoustics has built a major new studio, equipped with Dolby Atmos audio system, for Philophon Post Production Studios in Luxembourg.

The facility is located inside Filmland – Luxembourg’s new film production complex, which features production offices, two sound stages and a post production department, where Philophon is based.

“It is great to be involved with the ATMOS program and this is our fifth project since its inception," said Andy Munro of Munro Acoustics. "Philophon is the perfect client; fully committed to quality and sound engineering of the highest standard. I have no doubt that cinema will embrace Atmos as a truly innovative approach to sound-field creation.”

The Munro-designed Studio A offers a 32-fader Avid D-Control running three Pro tools HDX systems and Avid Media Composer for picture playback. The audio set-up features JBL speakers, three TC Electronic M6000 reverb units and a Cedar DNS 3000 de-noiser.

Philophon was set up in 2007 by production sound mixers Philippe Kohn and Carlo Thoss, alongside re-recording mixer Michel Schillings. The company now owns a total of eight sound editing suites with Dynaudio 5.1 monitors and two mixing stages.

The firm specialises in feature film sound design and mixing, but also provides various other sound services for picture productions, such as documentaries and TV series.
