NAMM 2013: PreSonus adds to studio monitor offering

PreSonus has unveiled its new Eris-series and Sceptre CoActual DSP studio monitors.

The two-way, bi-amped Eris-series monitors (pictured) deliver accurate response with tight bass and clear upper-end. They can be adjusted to the acoustic space, in order to create a more accurate listening environment, or simulate different listening environments.

The Eris E8 features an 8" Kevlar low-frequency transducer, driven by a 75-Watt, Class AB power amplifier; and a 1.25", silk-dome, high-frequency tweeter with 65-Watt Class AB amplifier. It can deliver up to 105 dB SPL, peak and frequency response is rated at 45 Hz to 22 kHz.

The compact Eris E5 sports a 5" Kevlar low-frequency driver, mated with a 45-Watt Class AB amplifier; and a 1-" silk-dome tweeter powered by a 35W, Class AB amplifier. It can provide a clean 102 dB SPL, peak, while frequency response is rated at 64 Hz to 22 kHz.

Both have individual balanced XLR and ¼" TRS input connections in addition to unbalanced RCA inputs. Both also offer RF shielding, current-output limiting, over-temperature protection, and subsonic protection.

The Sceptre CoActual monitors offer an advanced coaxial design that works integrally with a 32-bit, 96 kHz, dual-core processor using Fulcrum Acoustics’ TQ Temporal Equalization technology. Sceptre CoActual monitors deliver clarity and coherence that has previously only been available in ultra-high-end systems.

The Sceptre S8 combines an 8" low/mid-frequency driver and 1" horn-loaded, high-frequency transducer into a single coaxial unit with aligned voice coils. The Sceptre S6’s coaxial speaker integrates a 6.5" low/mid-frequency driver and 1" horn-loaded, high-frequency transducer.

Sceptre monitors include controls that enable full integration into any studio environment. A four-position Acoustic Space switch controls a second-order shelving filter centered at 100 Hz, with four attenuation settings, which lets the user account for the bass response relative to room dimensions and speaker placement.

Each transducer is powered by a 100-Watt RMS Class D power amp with internal heat sink. All Sceptre-series monitors have a balanced XLR and ¼" TRS line-level inputs with A-taper level control.

All Sceptre monitors offer RF shielding, current-output limiting, and over-temperature protection and have internal power supplies with IEC connectors and power switches with on/off LEDs.
