OneBigStar turns to Roland Systems Group again for Glastonbudget 2013

Event production and rental company OneBigStar renewed its partnership with Roland Systems Group (RSG) for this year’s Glastonbudget festival.

RSG products made up the entire audio set-up – including mixing, splitting, dropboxes and monitors – with Roland’s M-480 and M-300 digital consoles, S-1608 stage box and M-48 personal monitors all playing a major role in the arrangement, which catered for live bands and acoustic sets.

The festival, which takes place every year in Wymeswold, Leicestershire, offers top tribute bands and local music with over 100 performances on four stages over the UK’s May Bank Holiday weekend. The 2013 event featured an ’80s theme for the first on the Saturday night, with music from the likes of Howard Jones, ABC, The Christians and Heaven 17.

"Having used RSG products for the past few years at Glastonbudget and also using the digital consoles day to day for our conference and corporate work, we knew that using the M-480 and M-300 would give us superb sound quality, as well as being easy to setup and use," commented Simon Taylor, OneBigStar director.

For the Big Top stage area, OneBigStar chose two 48-channel M-480s, which were connected to the S-1608 with REAC (Roland Ethernet Audio Connection) splits at the stage end. This enabled the two engineers to control monitors, FOH and the patchdeck from the M-480s

On the main stage, Howard Jones provided his own system, which features the M-48 live personal mixers used by his musicians on tour. Ethercom running from the main stage to the M-300 at FOH allowed Jones’ engineer to patch in their own desk and use the M-300 for handling monitors and FOH.

"The RSG products offer us the flexibility and the sound quality that we need for a live event such as Glastonbudget and they perform time after time without any issues, making our job a lot easier," Taylor concluded.
