Out Board celebrating Broadway success at AES

UK-based theatre, event and installed audio specialist Out Board will exhibit its TiMax SoundHub and TiMax Tracker audio show control and performer tracking systems at the 139th AES Convention in New York’s Jacob Javitts Centre from the 30 Oct – 1 November.

TiMax will return to the AES on Stand 665 with longstanding US Distributor 1602 Group to mark a successful period for the product’s core theatre market on Broadway, with five major shows employing TiMax audio show control and localisation in the last two years, and so far collecting ten Tony Awards between them.

Disney’s Aladdin is moving into its third year at the New Amsterdam with sound design by Ken Travis, using four TiMax SoundHub-S64/AES units and a TiMax Tracker system supplied by Masque and which has gone worldwide with Tokyo, Hamburg and London productions already running or scheduled.

Sound designer Scott Lehrer specified two TiMax SoundHub S48/MADI units for the Honeymoon in Vegas musical equipped by Sound Associates in 2014, and this year has a staging of The King & I running in The Lincoln Centre with two TiMax SoundHub-S64/MADI units plus full TiMax Tracker system, all supplied by Masque.

Kai Harada sound-designed five-time Tony Award-winning Fun Home with a TiMax SoundHub-S48/AES unit supplied by Masque, having persuaded the producers that he “absolutely needed the TiMax system” to achieve the intimacy and immersion that the in-the-round staging demanded.

And Scott Lehrer is back this Fall with a new production of Fiddler On The Roof which opens in November at the Broadway Theatre, using a TiMax SoundHub-S48/MADI system supplied by Sound Associates.

Out Board director Dave Haydon commented: “We’re immensely proud to have TiMax involved with so many premier Broadway productions, and hugely value the commercial and technical contribution of our US distributor 1602 Group in helping us win and support these prestigious projects”
